Here's Miss Kelly, Charlie's main teacher out of the 5 that look after the nursery class. Last night Teri and myself took the trip over for parents evening to see her and find out how Charlie has been getting on.
We were held up because of the need for translators in the appointments before us. Charlie is one of about three white Scottish kids the other 90% made up of all sorts of nationalities from all continents, there is even an Eskimo kid.
Teachers are pleased with Charlie's confidence, language, curiosity, independence, concentration, memory, rate of learning, adaption to new situations, ability to strike up friendships and were amazed at how quickly she settled in. All the things we expected.
Spoke the Miss Kelly about the possibility of holding back Charlie (it would be my preference for Charlie and Phoenix to be 1 year apart at school rather than 2) because she is a January kid we have the right to apply for this. All this will really mean is that Charlie will be one of the oldest kids in her year rather than one of the youngest. However, Miss Kelly was unsure if we would be allowed, simply because Charlie is clearly competant enough to start this year. Can but try.

I take it you haven't got a job yet? You're putting me to shame with all this blogging I'll need to put some more on mine.
With regards to school age it's normally better to be one of the oldest rather than one of the youngest ( I think especially so for boys though). I may try and dig up some links to supporting research for you later but I presume you've googled it already.
